Marley In Manchester - Day Three

Its my final day of photos from Manchester. Today's pictures are from the Manchester Wheel. Its a smaller version of the London Eye that goes faster and shakes around a bit! Once you get used to that though the views are fantastic.

The Manchester Wheel.

Manchester Cathedral.

The Hilton Tower. The bottom part is an hotel and the top is apartments. The top part sticks out from the bottom and the frame work on the roof is the counterbalance. You can see it better from the side, but I didn't get a photo of it. Typical.

This pub is built on a concrete platform so the whole building can be moved. And it has been!

This apartment building is amongst the most expensive to live in, at the very heart of the city.
That's Manchester then. A city going through much change and redevelopment but still holding on to some of its amazing heritage. Its a fantastic place to visit, Phoebe and I had a great weekend. Thanks to AJC and DJ Groin Strain for letting us stay with them and showing us around. See you both soon.
Back to Cheltenham tomorrow and something for Easter. Any guesses?

You could certainly mess with someone's mind if you moved the pub while they were in it! To funny...never heard of something like this before! I have enjoyed your Manchester trip...I am sure you have said how far away it is from you...I just don't remember!

Looks like you played both the worm and the bird -:)

Love Neva's comment about moving the pub with elbow bending patrons inside. Would tend to be just a bit disconcerting when time to go home. Home? Seem to have lost my way. Hmmm -:)

I really must go on the Eye here, even though I hate heights.

Nice set of photographs. The wheel is a monster isn't it.

Imagine this:
Take a picture of your car with you seated in it, going down the super highway at 65 mph. I just put this on my Brookville blog this morning.

Um.. rabbits?

These Mancunian shots are superb. I haven't been there for a few years so it's interesting, thanks.

I loved this series (want more!) and I'm so curious about two things: Why was the bar built on a concrete platform that can be moved? That glass tower, is it expensive mainly because of its central location? It doesn't strike me as a very distinguished address (dunno, it just looks messy, I guess, with all that see-through going on). Please, do tell. :)

What a great trip, I enjoyed this virtual vacation. Interesting about the pub being moved. Gives a whole new meaning to pub crawl.

My I ask *why* the pub can be moved?! O_o

lol

And I'd hate to live in a large apartment block in the middle of a city.

tried to say this this morning but lost connection before it posted - didn't know about that pub

that Hilton place is a monstrosity visible from all around - can see it from my bedroom window which is about 10-12 miles aways (if I lean out) - it spoils the red sunsets!

Great set of photos... the wheel is cool, we have a similar one at the state fair in Dallas... i can't imagine them moving that large building all at once!
