When Will I Be Famous

Fancy a new suit? Want to be treated like an extra from Are You Being Served? Then The Famous is the place for you. Well known for being the best specialist menswear shop in Gloucestershire, they boast knowledgeable and experienced staff. The Famous was established in 1886 and its still in its original premises on the High Street, still being run by the same family. They also do formal hire and school uniforms. I remember my mum taking me here to get my first school blazer, ready to start senior school. As you'd expect the blazer was too big but I was told "you'll grow into it!"

Ha! I had that same experience. Except, I grew out of that sportcoat.

This is great - a long tradition and still in business. Thx for sharing the memory.

How long did it take you to grow into the blazer? Great quote as well.

This place is really bucking the trend. Good to see a "local shop for loacl people" still going strong an producing those "growing into" blazers. It's a really cool building too.

I hope we never lose places like this with such personal attention. They seem to be a dying breed of store. (Thanks for the reminder of Are you Being served. I loved that show!)

Long may the famous be famous. I remember having school uniforms that I had to grow into. You never did. They didn't last long enough. So always looked silly.
