So much for Bobbies on the beat, now its Bobbies on two wheels! Actually its a good way for the Police to get through town quickly, because unlike police cars they can go through the parks, across the pedestrianised areas and cut through alleyways. This was the first time I'd seen Gloucestershire Police on their bikes, unfortunately its not the best photo but you get the idea. Any complaints and I'll call the boys-in-blue-on-bikes to sort you out!
I know there is a pun to go with this photo, but my brain can't come up with one. Any puns gratefully received.

I'm horrible about coming up with puns, sorry!
The police in Atlanta ride these scooter like things that they stand up on 2 wheels. I can't think of the name and I'm sure I've left you completely confused with my description, lol.
We have a bike patrol in our downtown too. I like it because those of us who live downtown get to know the officers, which we don't if they just cruise by in cars. And so sorry, I'm punless today.
@ Tanya - Segways? I'm sure there's a pun waiting to happen there too, lol.
we have a bike patrol in dallas also... it must really keep them in good shape. Nice pic!
about the pun... how about, these 2 officers had been called to a daycare to see about some young children resisting a rest?
history repeats itself!
Reminds me of the song lyric "Bobbies on bicycles, two by two" , and children's red cheeks and the tower of Big Ben. Thanks for confirming this!
two local bobbies told me they weren't allowed to have their photographs taken! hope yours don't have eyes in the backs of their heads!
Perhaps they are riding "bobcycles"
I know that's sooooooooo bad! It could be a new word now. If you see it turn up anywhere then I will claim copyright. There's all on foot here.
In D.C., we have cops on patrol in cars, on bikes, and on Segways. Occasionally, I see a pair on foot patrol in the evenings in our neighborhood. (Of course, we also have five hundred agencies with police powers and jurisdictions in this city, too. Don't want to hijack your blog comments, so I won't list them. Maybe that could be my next series, though...)
I don't see sidearms on your guys. Do they not carry guns over there?
A pun for this one? How about... Nope. I'm drawing blanks. Oh, hey. Maybe there's a pun in that. No? :-)
Isn't it funny how some things just leave your head when you know there is something right on the tip of your tongue!...We have policemen on bikes in the summer months. I will try to get a picture this summer!
I've seen paramedics on bikes before now too, in city centres.
