Marley In Rhodes

Last day of photos from our Rhodes holiday, back to Cheltenham photos tomorrow.

Old blue doors and shutters.

The obligatory cocktails! No photos of the free shots, they didn't last long enough!

One of the amazing floors in Lindos. These floors are made out of pebbles and stones and are used to create the steps and streets as well as doorsteps and shop floors. It must take a great deal of skill and patience to create them.

End of the day.

Back to business tomorrow.

Marley In Rhodes

I'm back! First things first - once again many thanks to my fellow CDP bloggers who lent photos to appear here in my absence, and thanks to those who continued to visit and comment while I was away. Now, on to the holiday snaps!

We had a fantastic week in Rhodes, staying in the village of Pefkos. Lots of lazing by the pool, eating and, of course, drinking! Today and tomorrow I'll share with you a few photos.

The view from our balcony of the bay towards Lardos.

Colourful beach balls and buckets.

Night time view of Enigma restaurant. We ate here a couple of times and sat on the open roof terraces. Lovely.

Bell tower in the neighbouring village of Lindos.

The Greek sense of humour shines through everywhere, like on this sign outside a bar. Who could resist an offer like this?!

More snaps tomorrow.

Marley In Kefalonia - Day Five

Last post from Kefalonia today. I was going to show several photos today but I've decided to show just one, and as this post marks the end of my holiday I thought a sunset was appropriate. This is the sunsetting behind one of the olive groves that the area is famous for. I hope you've enjoyed seeing some of the sights of Kefalonia as much as I did spending some time there. Thank you for all the nice comments that have resulted from this series, its appreciated.

Back to Cheltenham tomorrow.

Marley In Kefalonia - Day Four

Today I've got a few photos to show you of Skala and Poros. They are neighbouring Bays on the South East coast of Kefalonia. We headed off in our hire car and followed the coast road round the island to get to them, and the views across the sea to the Greek island of Zakynthos (Zante) were stunning.

A quite spot at Skala beach. This is the main resort on the island, but like the rest of Kefalonia, it wasn't busy.

Oleander bushes can be seen all over Keflonia, showing off there blousey pink blooms.

Poros is a peaceful bay with a few shops and tavernas, it was a beautiful spot to have lunch.

Its the final day of Kefalonian photos tomorrow. The holiday is drawing to a close.

Sky Watch Friday In Kefalonia - Day Three

This photo is still from my collection of holiday snaps from Kefalonia. The apartments that we stayed in for the week were brimming with bird life, mainly sparrows and, as shown, swallows. These guys were stopping on telephone wires for a rest from all the soaring and diving that they were doing. It was interesting to see them swooping down onto the swimming pool and snatching a mid-flight drink!

Check out all the other Sky Watchers here.

Come back tomorrow for 'Marley In Kefalonia - Day Four'

Marley In Kefalonia - Day Two

Today a few photos from the Kefalonian capital, Argostoli. It is about 8km North of Svoronata, the village where Phoebe and I stayed for the week. We hired a car from Greekstones (I know, great name for a car hire company in Greece!) Check out their logo at the end of today's post. Its cool! It was a bit scary driving on the opposite side of the road to the UK, and it didn't help that the steering wheel was on the other side of the car! Anyway, we made it in one piece. Here is the proof.

One of the towns many churches, decorated with flags and bunting in preperation for one of the Islands Saints days.

Locals queueing up to buy fresh fish from one of the fishing boats in the Port.

View across the bay to the mountains with added sparkle, not that it really needed it!

Thanks for all the 'welcome back' greetings yesterday, I'm glad you all liked the photos. More tomorrow.

Marley In Kefalonia - Day One

Hello everyone, I'm back! I had a brilliant time on the Greek island of Kefalonia. The sun shone, the water was warm and the food and drink tasted delicious! What more could I have asked for?

I don't go back to work until Monday so to make the holiday last a bit longer I'll show you some of the many photos I took until then. I'll return to Cheltenham photos on Monday. Hope you enjoy a taste of Greece.

The beautiful Myrtos beach, on the road to the fishing village of Fiskardo.

Some of the many colourful boats and buildings at Fiskardo.

Flowers enjoying the sun and a not so traditional coloured building.

Come back tomorrow for more sun, sea and sand. At some point today I'll get round to catching up with your blogs, I'm looking forward to seeing what you've all been up to!
