Past Times

I must say that cocktail drinking at The Daffodil is not one of my regular pursuits, on the other hand pretending I'm Tom Cruise in the film Cocktail at home is! But last Friday we went there for lunch and having a cocktail in the bar was an essential part of the relaxed midday eating experience.

As I've mentioned before, The Daffodil is a former art deco cinema and this photo (which I have fiddled with slightly) looks like it could have come straight from a 1930's silver screen blockbuster.

Pull Up A Chair

Just a quickie today. Its Bank Holiday Monday here so I'm due a rest. This is one of the very comfy chairs in the cocktail bar at the Daffodil restaurant. The lighting in the eatery and bar is perfect for all sorts of arty photos.

Daffodil Stairs

We went to The Daffodil restaurant yesterday for lunch. It is a fantastic restaurant set in a former art deco cinema, and although it has gone through many refurbishments and renovations it still holds onto its wonderful style. There was so much to photograph as well as cocktails to be drunk and delicious food to be eaten. I couldn't decide which photo of the staircase to post, colour or black and white, so went with both. I'll leave you to choose your favourite.

Marley In Rhodes

Last day of photos from our Rhodes holiday, back to Cheltenham photos tomorrow.

Old blue doors and shutters.

The obligatory cocktails! No photos of the free shots, they didn't last long enough!

One of the amazing floors in Lindos. These floors are made out of pebbles and stones and are used to create the steps and streets as well as doorsteps and shop floors. It must take a great deal of skill and patience to create them.

End of the day.

Back to business tomorrow.

Pink Elephants

Its New Years Eve and as we head, inebriated, towards the midnight hour we may well end the year seeing pink elephants! If you want to encourage your New Year party guest to see pink elephants then get a few glasses of Pink Elephant cocktail down their necks! All you need to make the cocktail is vodka, grenadine, galliano and orange juice. I'm not sure of the quantities, just have fun experimenting! The pink elephants in the photo were on a post in a multi-storey car park, it makes a nice change from numbering the levels. Other floors were yellow camel, red parrot, and black & white panda (obviously).

Whatever you are doing to see in 2009 have a great time. Don't forget tomorrow is City Daily Photo Blogs Theme Day - Best Photo Of The Year 2008. If you signed up, join in! Post before you start seeing pink elephants!
