The Seagull And The Sandwich

Another view from my front window. Cheltenham isn't known for its seagulls but one suddenly appeared and landed on the roof opposite. He was eyeing up half a sandwich that someone had dropped on the pavement but, while he was plotting his best course of action for getting hold of some lunch, a magpie came swooping down and had his fill! Better luck next time Mr Seagull.

I guess its true what they say - one magpie for sorrow!

You know I absolutely adore seagulls. I have these great memories when I was a child of feeding them through the little window on top of the caravan at Goodrington Beach, and hearing them all swoop down on the roof. Loved them ever since. Great photo!

Thank goodness you weren't up on that roof in search of a prize photograph. Great shot from your very safe window. Whew!

Aww, poor Mr Seagull.

Weird, I haven't seen seagulls around Manila Bay. I wonder if we even have any.

I hope you feel better soon, Marley. Getting stuck in the house because you're sick is no fun at all. Being at home by choice is a different matter altogether though. :)

"Louis" is surprised the flying rat was beat to the sandwich by a magpie!

We see quite a few magpies around us. I'm surprised too it beat the gull. I've known gulls hover over duck ponds trying to swoop down and catch thrown bread before it hits the water.

Aw, a sad ending for Mr. Seagull.

Aren't you glad you had your camera at the ready for that?!! We get seagulls here sometimes as well but they are really something other than a true seagull...I am afraid I don't remember what...you know...getting old and all.....the brain goes first! I am fond of saying "it's in the rolodex of my mind!"

We have regular garden magpies. I once had a seagull in the house. Never seen a magpise get the better of a seagull. Interesting image.

That seagull looks rightly pissed off. You have the most interesting views from your window.

Seagulls can be cheeky birds. I once had one snatch a french fry right out of my hand in Rehoboth, Delaware.
