The winter arrived with full force over night on Sunday. Cheltenham woke to a winter wonderland yesterday, and very pretty it was too. We don't get snow here very often, only a couple of days each winter, and the recent snowfall wasn't predicted so it was a pleasant surprise. As I walked about yesterday kids were off school (why do UK schools close after an inch of snow?!) and they were enjoying the wintry weather, having snowball fights and building snowmen. The snowman in the top photo looked like he had been on the booze overnight! He was in the small front garden of what I assume was a student house, surrounded by rubbish bins and empty beer cans. They had given him wine bottle top buttons, a beer bottle top smile, eyes made of two pence coins, a Guinness hat, and a traditional carrot nose. Notice the beer can on his stick arm! The mini-snowmen below were a bit more civilised and were doing some Cheltenham sight seeing in Imperial Gardens.
The cold snap is set to continue through the weekend, plenty more opportunities for building snowmen!

Frosty is a real family guy, apparently :)
Wasn't it fun making this snow trio, Marley? You did make them just for the photo, right?
What a brilliant couple of photos! I love the boozy one - typical students! We haven't had any snow in Glasgow at all.
LOL that is too funny! Enjoy your snow! Christian's teacher said they may not have school tomorrow, supposed to ice overnight.
Enjoyed all those cute snowman pics :)
Those are great!!! We've had so much snow this year that the novelty of building snowmen has worn off.
Frosty is my kind of guy. A couple of cold ones never hurt anybody.
Marley,
Great start to your 100 Strangers Challenge. All four look happy to have their photos made. 96 to go!!!!
Frat house snowman it must have been in the top one. hehehe
BTW - how's your cat doing? I kept meaning to ask since you stopped posting that blog.
very creative and well done!
The tipsy snowman is work of art!! Great captures!!
snow is great isn't it. We've had minus 15 this night. Amazing
Ha! These are really cute, especially the first one, Tipsy the Snowman.
he he the first one is hilarious. I thought it was yours at first Marley and that you'd had a night on the town!
I've been meaning to make a mini one. I think it will only be about 6" tall though. Still; it could be cute!
I think his cousin is just down our street visiting.
Still no snow here! I think the first one had had too many by his angle and smile.
You sure you didn't make the top snowman, Marley? He and your tipsy gingerbread man can be best pals! ;)
Nothing like a little Fosters and uinness to keep you warm on a frosty evening.
So, yuor bottom photo begs the question; why did the snow family cross the road?
Ha! He looks like a jolly snowman. I really like the snowman family too. Enjoy the wintry weather!!
Ha ha Cool snowmen
Really funny, Marley...someone had a little too much time on their hands!!!!--and probably weren't feeling the cold much either!
