Theme Day - Books

Here we are again, another month over. It'll soon be Christmas! Sorry. I've got to say I found this months theme tricky. I didn't want to post a photo of a pile of books, I came close but I wasn't brave enough in the bookshop to ask if they minded if I took photos! In desperation for a post I had a photo of the bookshelf in our flat in reserve! Luckily, at the last minute, I saw this in the window of Waterstones bookshop. Last weekend the clocks went back and now the nights are drawing in rapidly, its already dark by 5pm, and by December it'll be getting dark at half past three. What better reason could you want for more reading?!

There are 177 other City Daily photo Blogs taking part in this Theme Day, click here to view thumbnails for all participants.

Check back tomorrow for more from my Changing View series.

I'm going in!!! Now this is my kind of store - perfect ThmDy!
I see a new one by Ian Rankin ... Oh, and a reminder to read the Pillars that's on my shelf & 1000 spl suns - We just reread Brideshead for a book club (after watching the BBC series about 5 times and reading the book 3 times in my early 30's) - now I'm going to have to check out the other titles ... I must stop now...

Marley, thank you for your continued visits while I've been busy with my sister and nieces! I really appreciate it. I have just arrived from bringing them to the airport so I'll have time to be a virtual tourist again — maybe it'll arrest the depression I can feel beginning to kick in.

You know what I'm like with books — I'd be in there in a sec! Your weather sounds like it can get so depressing! I'm such a sun person, I think I'd go crazy there. Dark at three? Mehn…

I love that Halloween tale you told! Someone should just go around collecting local spooky stories and taking pics — should make a great book!

And naughty, naughty title for last Thursday! LOL! Hope you push through with the macro theme day — it's fun to have so many choices.

More evening, more reading - what a great sentiment. Nice choice Marley.

That is so true, Marley. Christmas is already swamping the stores. I like your post for theme day...

I forgot about theme day today so I just found some of the books I wrote and took a photo and published that. Too late to be included in the group but it worked for me. LOL

Yep! I had the same thought. But books are lovely however we frame them.

Do visit Norwich Daily Photo and find out what I have in store for today's theme. Happy theme day! Enjoy your weekend!

I am really glad you chose this. I saw the poster in Waterstones in York and I thought how true that phrase is - more evening, more reading. I actually like it when the evenings draw in. I remember doing crafts for Christmas etc when I was a kid. The internet takes up a lot of my evening time now, but this advert reminds you of autumn/winter evenings like they used to be!

I had the clocks going back. Sure sign of winter and less daylight for this photographer. Nicily done display and well spotted.

Perfect for theme day and capturing how the weather has suddenly changed. It looks as though it may snow today. Bad news for the fireworks! I'm not listed in the participants not sure why.

Happy Theme Day Marley and yes, one benefit of the time change is more reading time! We change our time tonight when we go to bed.
You really will be dark right after 3 in December? That is early! It gets dark about 5 here when the time switches.

I suspected the allusion of the window sign was regarding daylight savings time. We turn our clocks back to O-Dark-thirty tonight. Great find at the end of your desperate search :)

I know what you mean, I quite often chicken out of good photos because I don't quite dare ask permission! This is a good photo though - I love bookshops. When I've finished my PhD and can read for pleasure again instead of for work I've got about a million books to catch up on!

Your persistence paid off. Nice book catch, Marley. I remember seeing Brideshead Revisited on public television a few full moons ago . . . we set our clocks back tonight and I am looking forward to gaining an hour of sleep or blog jumping ;)
