Well, its actually 'Wood Pigeon In The Ornamental Cherry Tree' but it doesn't have quite the same ring! Back in the spring I posted a photo of the white blossom on this cherry tree, that stands in front of my window. This is it yesterday evening, covered in red cherries and attracting the local wildlife. This Wood Pigeon had been eating his dinner but the moment I pointed my camera at him he stopped, then a moment after I took this shot he flew off. Typical!

Awesome capture!!
Mme la Vache loves birds, so "Louis" will make sure she sees this!
"Louis" thanks you for your kind comments about his s H a K y S h O t. For this next "ABC Wednesday", stop by for "Visions from Hell!"
Beautiful shot! I have some birdwatcher friends and they say that it's so hard to get photos of the birds they see, and they find it so frustrating.
He looks almost like a fake bird.....good shot!
Great photo Marley!
We had a pair of these in the back last year and earlier this year. One morning I awoke to find the carcass of one on the front drive. The other was still pecking in the back later. Since then I've seen a young one and got a nice photo which will be on my photoblog sometime.
At the time I found the carcass I blamed local cats but since I noticed quite a largish fox in the back but it jumped the fence before I could get the camera out.
Nice photograph. You cherry tree in bloom and when covered in red cherries reminds me of mine. It is very old now and reduced to one single main trunk and one spread of limbs. The glory days are long gone and each year more fungus robs its roots of life. The limbs die and are cut off. It is a shame but then these kinds of cherry trees only live about 15-20 years so this one of mine is past its prime. I have all kinds of birds that eat or peck at the ripe fruit. Just enough to make it fall to the ground. I just took some pictures of it the other day. More of it is dead than alive so it doesn't look like much.
very neat shot! i never can get close to birds or squirrels or wild life =)
We have a cherry tree in the garden, and yes the birds love to est the buds. He really is posing for you there. Thta's a smashing capture.
