As most of you know, I have a thing for green flowers. They just look so cool!

Green Roots

Ok, I told you I was in a green mode at the moment, so here is another! A bit different to the others, an all natural green. I like all the moss on the exposed tree roots. I am slightly annoyed with myself that I didn't take a macro of it. You live and learn!

Green House

More green today. This house stands out from all its neighbours in this row of white terraces. How could I not of photographed it?! Anyone out there live in a house painted green?

Being Green

A simple photo for an extra special day at Cheltenham DP. Its my 700th post! I can't believe it! Thanks to everyone who visits, follows and comments, its really appreciated.

I liked all the different elements in this photo. I've got a whole green-vibe-thing going on at the moment. More green tomorrow.

Cheap And Green

As some of you may know I like green flowers. I think its because they look so fresh and vibrant. Anyway, these bunches at the Flower Man stall on the Prom caught my eye. And at £3.50 they are a bargain too. Even better!

Green Balls

Yes, another Autumn themed photo. I told you you'd be sick of it by the end of the week! These green balls were covering the ground, they must be related to the Horse Chestnut tree but had no conkers inside, so I've no idea what they are. Any thoughts? Tash, you are always good at finding things out when I can't be bothered!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

This spiky little chap was busy munching his way through a sunflower leaf. The plant was about seven feet tall so he had plenty to go at!

Here at Cheltenham DP the second day of the month means Changing View. Today marks a full year of taking a photo from the same place once a month to record the scene as it changes. Glad Its Green

Mother Nature, with a helping hand from us humans, creates flowers of all kinds and colours. These gladioli are the limiest zestiest colour green imaginable. A real colour punch!

Sky Watch Friday

Union Jack

I just liked the different elements in this scene - the grey/blue sky, the flag, the roof tops, the green splash of colour from the tree and the little pigeon (can you spot him?)

Flags are difficult to photograph, aren't they? I took about five different shots of this scene and this was the best flag one. I really wanted a photo with a fully flying flag. Better luck next time.

Theme Day - Empty

The first day of the month brings about Theme Day across the CDPB community and the theme for July is Empty.

Today I'm showing the Farmers Market, or rather, whats left of the Farmers Market. The local produce market takes place on the first and last Friday of each month in front of the Municipal Offices and runs until 3pm. I took this photo at 3.10pm, they don't hang about! In the distance you can make out the green frames of the stalls as a team of guys remove them until the next time.

Changing View - June

The second day of the month can mean only one thing at Cheltenham DP - Changing View! This photo is the tenth in a series that record the changes that take place in exactly the same spot every month. And this month I can finally show you green leaves and sun! Summer has at last arrived. Notice the bloke leaning against the bollard. He obviously wanted to get in on the act!

Red Brick Workshops

These old workshops and lockups are in a narrow side street off of the Lower High Street. I bet they've seen a lot of change over the years and I imagine that they have been used for all sorts of different things. I like the contrast between the green door and the red bricks.

We are still enjoying the Bank Holiday Weekend! Spent a great night at the pub quiz last night with J, H and S. Did you know that Roger Daltrey was a former James Bond?! To much drink and not enough concentration! Today we are going to my mum's for a roast lamb dinner. Delicious! Hope you enjoyed your weekend too.

Green Pot

One last photo from the Hotel Kandinsky. This is one of a pair of old faded pots outside the main entrance, at the foot of the stairs. I hope that they don't scrap them in the hotel makeover.

Hoarding Art

As I mentioned yesterday the hoardings surrounding the construction site that is Hotel Kandinsky have been brightened up with art. The paintings have been created by local school children and some, like this one, are really good. I like how they've been 'framed'.

Changing View - May & 500th

Its the second of the month and that means only one thing at Cheltenham DP - Changing View! At long last the wintry branches have regenerated into spring abundance. Its been a long time coming but spring has finally sprung and the Prom is covered in an umbrella of green. To see how the view has changed click on 'changing view' in the labels below.

Today also marks my 500th post! I can't believe where the time has gone. Who would have thought that back in October 2007 I'd still be here?! Thanks to all the visitors, followers and commenters - you make it all worth while.

Repetition

Lets have some form and repetition today. These artificial topiary balls (yes, they're plastic!) are lined up outside one of the jewellery shops on the Prom. I had to be quick taking this photo as the store has a security guard stood inside, behind the glass door. I think its locked and you have to be let in, that's how posh it is. Anyway...he was giving me a strange look, especially when I looked up for the security camera and stood underneath it to take the photo (I know how to avoid detection!) He probably though I was casing the joint!

Two Things Challenge - Free / Range

Thought I'd have a go at the Two Things Challenge this week. At the moment there is an advert on TV here for Anchor Butter with the strap line 'the free range butter company.' Surely all butter is free range as the milk used comes from cows that graze on pasture, otherwise there would be no milk and therefore no butter! Anyway...here are some free range sheep, grazing on top of Leckhampton Hill. Do you count sheep to get to sleep?

Green Light

I've been meaning to photograph this light for ages. It hangs, along with half a dozen others, in the window of Jones' Shoe Shop on The Prom. The lights are so unusual. They serve no purpose, other than decoration, but they just make a display of shoes, laid out in the shop window, simply interesting.

I have two prominent memories of Jones's shoe shop. One - going there as a kid to get fitted for school shoes. We had to go upstairs to the children's department, where they had a rocking horse. Always good fun! Two - my dad coming home one Christmas Eve with a bag of Christmas table decorations that came from the window display of Jones'! He was passing by and saw them packing up, ready for the sales on Boxing Day, and asked if he could have them! Well, if you don't ask you don't know!
