Horny

A rather intense looking Rhinoceros at Nature In Art, as featured the other week. I remember going to a zoo when I was a kid and leaning over the railings to pat a Rhino. The thing I remember most about that day was a boy whose red baseball cap fell off his head, landed in the enclosure and the rhino ate it. Funny the things we remember. This begs the question - what bizarre childhood memories do you have?

If you saw yesterdays post and want to know the difference between a scooter and a moped check the comments for Chucks explanation. Thanks Chuck!

No childhood stories I will tell. I would hate for that thing to sneak up on me from behind.

Hmm - seems like only the ladies noticed your title.
I remember visiting my grandfather in Serbia. He lived in a small house with a yard in a village & kept a few free-range chickens. Well, I got bored with the adult talk and went out to explore (in my nice red winter coat). The rooster did not relish the intrusion and started pecking me - I was not hurt but my coat got muddy. My grandfather pulled out a scrub brush and cleaned the coat. And the rooster - he was next day's dinner, the poor thing.

An animal memory---at a zoo I held up a peanut to an emu, which pecked it out of my hand so forcefully that I could just feel the iron snap of its beak on my fingertips...it left me wondering what would have happened if it had gone for my nose. Since then I don't offer any wild animals anything!

Dudley Zoo, Cheletenham Zoo and West Midland Safari Park. Oh Drayton Manor too. Such memories. Great shot, looks like hes' about to burst out the screen. I was smashed a tomato on my head after begging my mom to ket me try one. I didn't like it. No idea why the head. I like them now, and just get smashed instead.

I also like the title! :-) This surely is a great sculpture and the framing is great, but there is nothing like watching this fantastic beasts in the wild and get close to them.

Wow, you got to pet a rhino! We never could do that in our zoo! Strange childhood memories, one I was just thinking of the other day is that I used to have a dream over and over when I was a kid, about crossing a footbridge way up high over the ocean and sharks being down below. Wonder what it meant and whatever it was I outgrew it because I never had it as a teen/adult. I have alot of strange memories but that just popped in my head first, lol.
