Spoilsport

Talk about a party pooper! The schools haven't even broken up for the summer holidays yet and the High Street shops are already spoiling the kids fun. I know its all about money, but just think how all those children feel. One minute the excitement of six weeks of summer away from school and the next its snatched away by the big stores, selling school uniforms and pencil cases! Back to school. At once!

Last week D.C Confidential gave me an Arte y Pico Award. Thank you very much.

I said I would use the weekend to ponder about who to pass it on to. Here are my choices:

I know that not everyone will wish to pass this award on. That's OK by me. If you do, here are the rules:

1. You have to pick five blogs that you consider 'deserving of this award for their creativity, design, interesting material and which contributes to the blogging community, no matter what language they are in.'
2. Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his/her blog to be visited by everyone.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given him/her the award itself.
4. The award winner and the one who has given the prize has to show the Arte y Pico blog so that everyone will know the origin of the award.
5. Each award winner has to post these rules.

Just copy and paste the rules above. Copy, save, and paste the Arte y Pico award on the right and pick your deserving five!

I saw a display in marks & Spencer in Bournemouth in JUNE - before school had even broken up for the hols! Unbelievable! Poor kids....

I have a small quiz to help celebrate Bastille day today.

Thanks for the award, Marley... i'll take a few days to ponder as well. I love this photo, the end of summer was always so depressing as a child =)

Congratulations on your award! It is all about marketing...they are pushing school products here as well. As soon as the 4th is done....out with summer and in with fall....amazing in a way isn't it?

When I was a kid, the "going back to school" was one of the highlights of the summer: new color pencils, new books, trying the fountain pen, practicing your marbles skills for the big day,... loved it!

What a scary photo - at least my 13-year-old would think so. Wish you a long, enjoyable summer.

Ooh, thank you for the award, I've never had one before (well, not for my blog anyway!). I'll spend a bit of time thinking about who to pass it on to.

I think I must have been a really weird kid. When I was young, I used to love the stationary displays, and choosing all my new stuff for the new school year.

Congrats on your award and thanks for passing it along! I like your "spoilsport" post! I can remember that sinking feeling I had when I was a kid seeing displays like that in the stores. The summer vacation goes by so quickly. It was always exciting once school started though.

This really infuriates me. It's all about money. Let the kids and the teachers take the time off. Parents already made to feel guilty about not pruchasing stuff for the next term when this one has not even eneded. Pretty pic though on the plus side.

Hey, those are really cool pencil holders.

Only six weeks of summer vacation in Britain?! Well, that's probably not a bad idea really. Here, kids are out almost three months and that's a bit too long, if you ask me. We're no longer an agrarian society, so long vacations make no sense and kids' brains go to mush.

As for the High Street, you're right: spoil the fun. Bah on them! (Or, as my word verification says: POX!)

Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog. I too hate it when you're hardly in to something, and then the Big Guys tell you it's time to get ready for something else. In the US, it's awful---hardly finished with Halloween than the Thanksgiving decorations etc. hit the stores, not to mention Christmas ones and so on. Spoilsport is right.

Thanks for your visit to my blog; I appreciate it. I actually like the photo because it brings back fond memories of the beginning of school each year!

It's either exciting, or buzzkill, depending on how you feel about school, I guess.

Thanks Marley for the award!! :)I have never gotten one before.

For kids, I guess they will be cheered up very fast.. that's the beauty of being a kid, isn't it. Nothing stands in the way of having fun.
