Every summer the Imperial Gardens, behind the Town Hall, plays host to the Open Air Art Exhibition. The event runs for four weeks, and each week each of the 25 different panels display a different artists work. The artists are made up of people who belong to local art clubs or people who paint for a living. All of the paintings and drawings are for sale, with the money going directly to the artists. It is a great opportunity for locals to showcase their work and each week there is always something new to see. When Phoebe and I had a look last week we were surprised at how high the standard was, there were several pictures that even I would have paid out for!
Do you have anything like this where you live?

There was an exhibition here in Beeston a couple of weeks ago. My nextdoor neighbour had 4 on show. charcoal drawings of dogs & cats. They were good too.
At the moment in our local library, there's a display of photographs.
Thanks for your comments re my silverman. As for the poem, yes I did scribe it. I do write the odd bit of poetry now and again, when the muse takes me.
i love seeing local artists work like this... nice photo!
I think this is a nice way for local artist to get close to the general public.
Over here, we think of artist as those whose work are only meant for the rich and famous who frequent the high end galleries.
However I feel, art should be open to everybody. So putting up where it's accessible to everyone is important.
we have a similar festival in Mumbai called the 'kala ghoda' festival...
it sure is a great opportunity for all the upcoming artists to display their work and make a mark
This is a great way for someone to get noticed. I dont think we have something like that here, or at least I havent found it yet.
We have an artist's market every Saturday at the Eastern Market. There's some nice stuff to be had a markets and fairs like this! Nice shot, Marley!
I haven't seen anything like this in Glasgow, but there was one in York a couple of months ago when I was there for a weekend. I think it's a great way for local artists to get themselves better known, and for local residents to own affordable but high quality art.
