Theme Day - 'No...' Signs

Yet again its Theme Day (the months are flying by!) I found it hard to get inspired for this theme. I wanted to show a sign that would be a bit unusual, but couldn't find one. In the end I settled for a standard sort of sign and added some effects to the photo, hopefully making it a bit different from the rest. With regard to the litter dropping aspect, if the Council enforced the very steep fine then there wouldn't be a litter problem. But they don't, so there is!

There are 171 other CDPB taking part in this Theme Day, take some time to pay them a visit.

Very strange theme indeed. I forgot about it once again. It's a pity as I am for the moment in the US and I could have found a lot of signs. I think it is a great idea to have posted a sign about the environment.

Wow..that is an expensive litter to drop..one that comes with a 2500price tag..

Looking at the pictures you have always posted, your city always seems to be spick and span.. guess the rule is working very well.

Wowzer! That's a stiff fine for littering. That's like US$5,000.

I could live in London for a month on that -- cheap motels, curry dinners and sight-seeing.

someone will be getting rich here in the District of Columbia...but as you stated that no one enforces these laws so we all do.

I am guilty too, its the only way I can keep my car clean ;)

2500 pounds. Wow. Still, if it works.

Stiff penalty. The Council is missing a bet.

Hi Marley,

The bees are back in Brookville, Ohio. I hope for the rest of the year at least. I even got one on my Better Blog Writing post today. LOL

I see you found an adorable No sign. It is a rather stiff penalty. Agree with Chuck.

Isn't it almost funny to think of adult people scurrying around their communities taking pictures of signs. And if somebody had asked what that is all about and you said a sign with "no" on it, they might... well. It is kind of funny.

That would keep me from dropping my litter.

Great sign, Marley! What I love is the fine print on the sign: The Environmental Protection Act of 1990. Somehow, that makes it more official.

Happy Theme Day!

I bet there are lots of folks in Cheltenham that are glad that you aren't setting the penalty amounts, though it wouldn't be a problem for me. Have a fun theme day!

Oh I wish they would put those signs up in London. It's a trash heap on the streets, tube, buses, actually anywhere.

I didn't feel inspired by the theme at all this month. I thought I might find a "Nae" sign somewhere, but if there is one I didn't find it!

That's a huge fine! They'd rake it in if they actually enforced it!

Gerald (SK14) said...

That is the MAXIMUM fine - our local paper publishes half a page of "criminal prosections" - one woman was convicted in her absence of littering by dropping a cigarette butt (in a shopping mall last December) fined £200 and told to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £210.

I confess I wonderd about joining in this one, is that a sign of the times?

i wasn't sure about the conversion rate to the dollar, but thought that was kind of steep... i wonder how often, if ever, they do enforce it? most of the pics i've seen from cheltenham looked very clean to me too....

You're absolutely right. Just imagine the money that could be raised if they enforced the law. Maybe reduced taxes);

wow, really expensive!

i realise that the signs in Cheltenham has a DROP in it. Most places in the world, it would just be "Do Not Litter".

Happy Theme Day!

You did find that unusual sign despite not being inspired. It's really unique -- would be funny if there was a pile of trash (or litter) right under the sign.

My goodness, that's some fine. As you say tho, if they don't enforce it, people don't take any notice.
