Stairs Of Desperation

This photo is a filler. I am short of photos to post, so in desperation I decided on this one from my now empty archive. This staircase is in Cavendish House Department Store on the Promenade. I actually quite like this shot (I was reminded I had it by Ming, who posted a similar photo on Saturday.) Recently I've been finding it hard to find anything I'd like to photograph but I'm off work today and I'm going to town to snap anything that moves (or doesn't!) I just hope I feel inspired. Wish me luck.

Marley, I like this quite a lot as well. And in honor of both you and Ming (and because the weather is total crap here today) I'm going to follow suit with my own staircase photo for my Monday post as well. Check it out after 4:01 pm your time. :)

Looks like if someone is skinny enough, they could jump straight down and make it all the way to the bottom.

I am sure you will find some wonderful shots! You do some great ones! I know how hard it is to find what you would like to post some days but this staircase is a very good one. Hope you found some awesome things to photograph! (church? school? bikes? dogs? ummm maybe cats for you! cars?)inspiration will strike when you least expect it!

It really is a great shot, Marley. My bet is you'll find plenty to shoot. It just takes getting out and looking, I think. Something these daily blogs force us to do. That can't be a bad thing. At least I hope not!

Hmmm I have stairways photos too. Should I do a filler too? :-)

I am going on a vacation, maybe I shall use the stairways theme! haha..

Marley,
I can totally relate to your need to feel inspired. Some days when I do have time to do an extended walkabout to shoot, NOTHING looks good. Then when I'm just itching to get out and shoot I can't because of commitments (I care for my elderly mom and have kids still at home and work. . .). Sometimes I'm not SEEING in the way I usually do when I see things nearly everywhere. It will pass, I tell myself. Maybe not today, but I'll get a few that will be acceptable despite it all. And then inspiration is there again. Our gray skies and rain, rain, rain global warming wierdness hasn't helped. Like Chuck said above ;^). Like Petrea noted, having to get out there is a help. It brings wonderful surprises.
I love this stair case shot, and it inspired Chuck. So, feel great about it and no need to tell us when you slip in shots like this out of necessity. No one will be the wiser unless you mention it :-). Best to you,
-Kim

We have a Cavendish Square in Cape Town, not as elegant as this though! Its a big shopping mall... Love the abstract shapes and line.

Awesome photo. I love the repeating lines here and there and a sudden splash of light colors around the corners.

I always get weak in the knees (not in a good way) when I look down stairwells like this.
