As you may have noticed I've been AWOL over the weekend. One of the reason being our trip to Birmingham (about 50 miles North of Cheltenham) to surprise AJC for her birthday. Phoebe and BFF had been plotting and planning, the result was me and Phoebe sitting in the bar of the hotel where AJC and BFF were staying. Surprise AJC! We went to a great restaurant, Metro, but due to me working yesterday and rubbish transport links (no trains or buses after 9.15pm from Birmingham to Chelt!) we had a fleeting visit, but we enjoyed ourselves none the less. Here are a few photos of our whistle stop tour.
The Council House building in Victoria Square
Mirrors in the Metro Bar and Grill
'Iron: Man' statue by Anthony Gormley in Victoria Square.
The Town Hall all lit up
BFF - thanks for inviting us, it was great to see you both.

Babooshka was born in Birmingham. It has changed so much over the years, but I will always be forever a Brummie and proud of it. Fantastic. nostalgic post for me.
Hey, nice photos! I like the tilted Iron Man. Was he supposed to be that way or did someone give him a shove? No buses after 9:15? I can handle this---where my mother lives in the US, things close up after 6 p.m.---deadsville.
Looks like you had better weather than us. Went to west Wales for the weekend. Rained the whole time. Still was fun. Birmingham looks like a place to add to my visit UK list.
I love the last !a photo beautiful ofnight
Wow, that town hall shot could be on a post card. It's gorgeous!! I'm sure your friends really appreciated your visit. Thanks for sharing the photos.
The photos of the mirrors and town hall are especially lovely. Is B'ham still the industrial town it was in years gone by?
Interesting sampling of architecture. I really like the great lighting on the Town Hall.
Love the council house and town hall! Glad you had a fun visit, even if it was short.
Well done on the photos. Gorgeous night shot.
What a nice thing to do! Your photos are lovely! Thanks for the kind words about my friend. I am back on line with a working computer(thank heavens!) THAT was a painful few weeks.
Great post! Wonderful shots!
