Deerhurst Flower Festival - Day Three

Today is the last day of my photos of the flower festival. I had so many to choose from it was a job to decide what to post. The first photo is part of a display called 'God Save The Queen', all about our national anthem. All the red, white and blue flowers fitted in well with the patriotic feeling about at the moment due to Team GB's success in the Olympics.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect at a flower show being held in a church. I was imagining lots of chrysanthemums and carnations, and those sort of old fashioned flowers. But I was really surprised. There were loads of unusual blooms and tropical flowers, like the orchids above. They added to some really interesting displays.

And the last photo is the one I promised you yesterday that I'd post. It shows the bells made of leaves, with the bell ringing ropes included, and is part of the display entitled Resounding Bells Of Time. I hope you all enjoyed seeing these floral creations.

Happy Birthday Phoebe x

Out Of Africa

Now, not that I'm short of photos or anything, but this is a tropical flower from an African inspired bunch, bought at my local supermarket along with the weekly shop. The flower is known as a Pincushion flower (Leucospermum cordifolium) Impressed with my knowledge, aren't you?! Don't let it be said that you don't learn anything here at Cheltenham daily photo! I did put some effort into today's post though. I doctored the photo a bit, just to highlight the flower.

Thanks to everyone for visiting yesterday. I achieved my highest number of comments to date. Its really good to know people like what they see. Enjoy your Saturday.

How Much Is That Kitty In The Window

Continuing yesterdays theme of banking, I spotted this chap in the window of the HSBC bank, at the junction of the Promenade and the High Street. He is there to promote the banks latest advertising campaign of "greener banking". The T.V adverts show the banks teaming with animals and birds, with employees fighting their way through dense undergrowth while sweating due to tropical conditions. All I found were queues for the ATM's and only two tills open!
