Caravan Club

I've not shown you my favourite Cheltenham shop window for a while - so here it is. The display at White Stuff, on the Prom, is geared up for the summer holidays that are rapidly approaching. They are highlighting a great British institution - caravanning.

What makes perfectly normal people take loads of stuff from their house, cram it in a giant tin can on wheels, tow it behind their car for miles and miles, and then live in it for a week, normally in the rain?! I'm not adverse to a caravan holiday myself, but its got to be one of those permanent ones on a holiday site, near the sea. All mod-cons, spacious living, built in toilet and no towing hassle. When we were kids most of our family holidays were spent down in Devon and Cornwall in caravans, and I've had a few holidays in them as a grown up. But with lots more alcohol!

All this brings me nicely to asking a favour of you, my dedicated visitors. I'm off on my holidays next week (Greece. No caravan!) and I wonder if any of you would like to lend me a photo. I'm planning to do a series of posts of other places. You'll get full credit and a link. My email is in my profile. I look forward to hearing from you!

This is an intriguing photo! We did lots of camping at various national parks when our two children were young, but haven't gone for years. Whether the experience is postive or negative, I guess it depends upon where you camp.

Greece! Lucky you!! Please take lots of notes and photos so we can vacation vicariously with you when you return.

Photos? Do you mean of our city? Ones that we've never posted or not?

Will happily lend you a photo!!! I'll send you something tonight!

And I kind of like going on a trip in a caravan...for me, it's better than camping in a tent.

You and I have the same idea of holidays. No tin can, canvas or anything that doesn't have hot and cold water, a bed with proper linen and a decent restaurant close by. Have a fabulous time in Greece. Haven't been there so look forward to a postcard or 2 on your site. Do you want a London photo?
Am also taking a trip out near Reading tomorrow if you want something closer to home. Let me know.

This has really freaked me out. Very disturbing image, but I like to be disturbed.

A totally bizarre image ... and I suppose that's the intention of the window dresser. Memorable, to say the least.

Cool shot... So is not having head a requirement for joining said caravan club?
