Making Tracks

One last snowy photo. These tyre tracks were made by the lorries and vans removing the temporary Christmas ice skating rink in Montpellier Gardens. The rink was inside a giant marquee and didn't attract as many skaters as neighbouring Gloucester's outdoor rink did. The main thing that put the visitors off was the fact that it wasn't real ice - it was plastic! Cheltenham Borough Council really need to get their act together for next Christmas!

The white stuff has all but melted, it is still freezing cold and frosty but the forecast is for milder weather next week. Who knows if we'll see more snow this winter.

Ooo, snow! I am really miffed that York didn't get any. It feels really grey and miserable up here at the moment and snow is what we need to paint the place white for a bit to brighten it up!

Plastic ice - not sure what I think about that. Not so cold if you fall down on it, I suppose!

Nice picture. I don't know what it is about tire tracks and footprints in snow and sand that appeals to me visual.

Plastic ice!? I can't imagine that working at all.

Oh, it's so pretty! I'd like to see some snow - with or without tracks. We go up to the mountains one weekend beg. of Feb. & it's not enough. Did you try the plastic rink? Can one actually skate on it? Does it have a coating of ice??
PS I left a comment back on my blog on your Q re color/colour. Stay warm & keep that kitty warm too.

This brings back such memories from my Illinois childhood, Marley! My father would go outside and start the car before we'd finished breakfast, so it could "warm up" for a few minutes before driving it. Then there's that sort of crunching noise that tires make on snow. (Do tyres make a different sound, I wonder?)

I was fascinated with all kinds of tracks in the snow when I was a child. I lived in a rural area, and delighted in trying to identify animal and bird tracks. Tires were pretty easy!

How can you skate on plastic ice? Don't the skates cut into the plastic? I could see roller-skating on plastic ice...

No snow here yet, just cold and grey. We've got an ice skating rink in the market square and I think they've been using real ice.

I'm not sure if the Tewkesbury one was plastic or real ice, but it was covered and didn't attract too many skaters I'm afraid. Main problem being it was set in the car park and there were so fewer places to park to get to it. Dur!
Lovely shot of the snow.

Sherlock certainly would have had a lot of inferences from this record of humanity's passing.
