Touching Souls is the name of this sculpture at the front of Tewkesbury Abbey. It is an exact replica of the same sculpture in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. Created by sculptor Mico Kaufman, its is cast in bronze and shows four children - native-American, European-American, African-America and Asian-American, sitting on the ground, legs outstretched, with the soles of their shoes touching. It is one of the many links that bind the two Tewkesburys. Has anyone out there seen the original in the USA?

Touching! (I could not resist but I do mean it :) I like replica sculptures, it does link places together. Thx for visiting Whiskers & for your comment on the Saturday walk post (it was so lonely w/ no comments before) :<>
interesting the UK town copies something from the USA - 'tis usually t'other way round.
this is beautiful!
Great picture. I am curious as to the link between the two places. Did people for Tewkesbury Abbey settle in the US. What is the connection?
I haven't seen the original but it is beautiful. Love the name of it.
I haven't seen the original, I wonder if Tewkesbury, Mass. is near Boston. In any case, it's a lovely sculpture and you've taken a beautiful photo of it!
This is what's great about sculptures: it can spread in so many parts of the world.
I like this sculpture very much. If more of us sat down and did this, the world would be a better place...
That's really interesting, I like the twin sculpture idea.
Welcome back.
Great sculpture. I like the symbolism and children are perfect for that.
Thanks for visiting my blog. So many blogs, so little time! I have enjoyed cruising around yours as well.
That is quite a powerful sculpture. Interesting info too.
I like this sculpture. I just wish its sentiments are realized in the world. ='(
great sculpture... and an idea of something i need to go see if/when i'm in massachusetts! =)
What an interesting sculpture. Perhaps if we had one of these on Capitol Hill, our politicians and leaders would remember why they were sent to Washington.
P.S. Don't know if I told you this previously, but I live on Tewkesbury Place!
