Art Or Seat?!

Well, I asked the question yesterday because I'm not really sure of the answer myself! These stone and blue glass chip cubes are along the bank of the River Chelt, and I would hazard a guess that they are designed to be used as seating. There are three different variations in total but this one seems the most impractical to sit on!

As nobody got the answer right yesterday, and the fact that I couldn't decided on the best non-answer, I'll give a link to my top three.

  1. Gail's Man with "They are actually some mis-shapen Smarties that have been put in a bag of mis-shapen Polos and are for sale on Cheltenham market for 50p a 100gramm."
  2. Jackie with "I think they're ground down, turned into little blue pills and offered via the medium of spam email as the solution to (ahem) size issues"
  3. Dusty Lens with "It's actually Blue Number 5 nail polish. Someone dropped their favorite bottle of Blue No. 5 toenail polish onto the ground."

Don't forget tomorrow it's Theme Day and it'll also be my 300th post!

Well you got me! It looks like those kiddies building blocks you still see.
I have to say Gail's Man's smarties made me LOL. All 3 worthy linkies today.

Thanks for the heads up on theme day. Yes I had forgotten. On a photo hunt now.

Ah, blue mystery revealed.
Are those raised cubes securely place like that? Gotta admit it makes it noticable like that. Reminds me of an uncomfortable lawn chair.
Can't wait to see what you'll do for your 300th!!! post.

Well I wouldn't want to sit on summat that had glass chips on it - I think my bollard suggestion wasn't too far off the mark - just looking at the photo I'm wondering - is that the end of a sloping road on the left and would the river be on the right? In which case they might stop a runaway vehicle going in - mind you a cyclist hitting them would probably end up being tossed straight in.

Whatever - there is some strange examples of street sculpture around these days.

Aha! After the NBC game in NYC, here's the cube games in Cheltenham!
It is funny how the close-up is so different from the effect a larger picture is. On the current picture, it looks like felt, like something very comfortable. Nice catch.

I'll call it an artful seat. These are artistically appealing, and maybe a nice place to rest your tired feet. Perhaps even paint your toenails...
