Sky Watch Friday

A Room With A View

A Sky Watch of sorts this week. This is the view from the top floor of Pitville Pump Room, looking out across Pitville Park. The Statue is one of three on the front of the building. This photo was taken back in October, hence the Autumn leaves on the trees.

Sky Watch Friday

Winter Branches

Just a quickie for SWF (let the photo do the talking and all that.) I really like the silhouette of the bare branches against the cold blue wintry sky.

Sky Watch Friday

Across The Roof Tops

A view across the South of Cheltenham, taking in St Andrews Church steeple and the dome and roof of the Ladies College, under an ominous sky.

Sky Watch Friday

Red And Blue.

Enough of the green (see previous posts if you have no idea what I'm talking about!) Now its red and blue, well for today. I love the detail of the architecture of this former school building that is now converted to apartments. I can't actually remember the name of the school, need to check that out, and, as I have a few other good photos of this building to post, I will do some research! In the mean time just enjoy SWF!

Sky Watch Friday

All Saints Roof

Another All Saints Church photo. I liked the pattern of the roof tiles and the contrast between the red and blue sky. And the white bird is a bonus!

Jetting Off

Do you fancy jetting off somewhere hot and sunny this weekend? Me too. I'll have to make do with heading North for a few days. Enjoy your weekend. Play nicely while I'm away.

Another orange sunset this week but they look so good!

Sky Watch Friday

Out Of Africa.

OK. OK. Its not actually Africa but it has that feel. Its actually out of the back of my local community centre! I had to stand on the top of the railings to get high enough above the hedge to take this tree in the distance. The things we do...

Sky Watch Friday

Clouds

Its been a while since I posted for Sky Watch but here I am throwing my hat in the ring with this offering. The weather here has been full on Autumn with wind, rain and cold temperatures. The sky has been full of fast moving rain filled clouds. Between the showers I snapped this shot of the sky above my house.

Sky Watch Friday

Union Jack

I just liked the different elements in this scene - the grey/blue sky, the flag, the roof tops, the green splash of colour from the tree and the little pigeon (can you spot him?)

Flags are difficult to photograph, aren't they? I took about five different shots of this scene and this was the best flag one. I really wanted a photo with a fully flying flag. Better luck next time.

Sky Watch Friday

Blue sky, orange plane.

This sky watch photo is a bit of a cheat really, its not of Cheltenham but from my holiday to Pefkos, Rhodes last month. I just really like the colour contrast and wanted to share it with all you sky watchers.

Sky Watch Friday

Pink Road

Not the best photo in the world but this was the view out of my front window on Tuesday night. There had just been a heavy downpour and then the sky suddenly cleared to this beautiful shade as the sun went down, turning the grey road pink. Gorgeous.

Sky Watch Friday

Orange sunset.

Just look at those colours and that dark cloud and the Malvern hills in silhouette. Wonderful. The sun sets on another week. Enjoy the weekend.

Sky Watch Friday

Another photo taken by P at Beckford, and perfect for Sky Watch (hope you don't mind P!) I imagine when people think of England they conjure up a view like this - rolling English countryside.

Sky Watch Friday

Kite and blue sky

While up on the top of Leckhampton Hill on Monday we saw lots of things going on - walkers, cyclists, families playing, picnics and kite fliers. There were a group of teenagers sitting around watching one of their own trying to control this large professional kite. The top of the hill is always windy, even in summer, and perfect for kite flying. At times the lad on the end of the strings was struggling to stay with his two feet firmly on the ground!

Pylons At Sunset
I took this photo over a year ago and thought I had already posted it, but I hadn't - until today! All I can say about the shot is that it shows electricity pylons and the sun setting behind the fluffy clouds in the distance. There you have it! Have a great weekend.

Peach Sky

We have been treated to some lovely spring weather over the last few days and last nights sunset created this wonderful pastel coloured sky. What more can I say? Mother Nature is good.

Sky Watch Friday

Half Moon

I took this photo from my front window the other night. Its not the clearest shot of the moon ever seen but I thought it was worthy of an outing on Sky Watch Friday. Just remember that wherever you are in the world the moon is always the same. Just remember that there are bigger things than us out there.

Sky Watch Friday

February sunset.

At last its the end of another week and its Sky Watch time! I know the sun sets everyday but sometimes you don't see it, not like this anyway. Sometimes its hidden by cloud or rain. Sometimes you wouldn't even know the sun was up there in the sky. Yesterday was an overcast day but, as the daylight hours came to an end, the sun made this beautiful appearance. It was worth the wait.
