I like the fact that it looks like the demolition team just gave up when they got to the doorway, it has been like this for weeks! For more info about the New Penny Inn, and photos before demolition, go here.

Perhaps it's a portal to another world...
Cool photo, Marley!
Heheh - i wonder why they left his one piece! i think dc may be on to something, it may be a portal!
I know! They think people are going to object to yet another block of flats. Whatever the flats look like, it will be better than a doorway and some rubble.
I am not sure whether I have commented here before, but I have been enjoying your pics for a few months (I suspect I came here from Babooshka, or the Newcastle Daily Photo originally).
Another bit of history confined to landfill. We lost a very fine pub called The Beech Tree earlier this year. It served as a hospital during WW1 for injured soldiers. The land is now going to be used for a Tesco's petrol station.
Mo in London has also published a dead pub too.
Wow, there's construction going on EVERYWHERE!!! I like how they left just the door too, it looks cool - but I really wonder why!?!?!
I always do a double take when I see brick behind the plaster - we see 2x4s. Super shot - portal to rubble?? I hope they saved the ceramic plaque.
You are reading my mind again. Posts coming up this wekk taht look just like this.
Bless its heart. New Penny Inn not worth a damn dime.
Now it's the old penny. I agree with Pierre, people will get so sick of looking at this that they'll beg for a new block of flats.
Lets hope the bank financing it still has some money left to pay for the new work. Pity about the pub.
