Model Arcade

No, I haven't been flying over Cheltenham in a helicopter. This is the model on display to show how the revamped Regent Arcade will look. The work to exterior is a long way from being started but the interior make over is under way. I'll show you that another day. As you can see from the two photos, the change isn't amazing. Basically a closed in arched front. The architects wanted to replace the area at the front with a large glass canopy, but Cheltenham Borough Council were having none of it! It seems a shame that the opportunity to create a stylish facade has been wasted. But that's the way it goes.

If you want to see my other posts on the Regent Arcade, including its history, then click on 'regent arcade' in the labels below.

A Model Village

Behind The Old New Inn in Bourton on the Water lies a model village of, you've guessed, Bourton on the Water. This 1/9th scale replica is one of Bourtons most interesting and unusual attractions. It was constructed in the early thirties and includes the River Windrush, St Lawrences church and a host of shops. The photo shows part of the model village that makes my head hurt. A model village with a model village in it, with a model village in the model village in the model village! Brain ache!
