I'm easily confused and this poster didn't help. I hadn't seen the news today and thought I'd missed something! But as it was on the door of Cineworld I soon worked out it was to do with a film. Just call me Detective Marley! Anyway, here is what District 9 is all about -
"In 1990, a massive star ship bearing a bedraggled alien population, nicknamed "The Prawns," appeared over Johannesburg, South Africa. Twenty years later, the initial welcome by the human population has faded. The refugee camp where the aliens were located has deteriorated into a militarized ghetto called District 9, where they are confined and exploited in squalor. In 2010, the munitions corporation, Multi-National United, is contracted to forcibly evict the population with operative Wikus van der Merwe in charge. In this operation, Wikus is exposed to a strange alien chemical and must rely on the help of his only two new 'Prawn' friends." Taken from IMDb.

I haven't seen (nor heard of) the film, but I have visited District 6 in South Africa. A memorable site and dastardly action by the then-SA government.
Pretty tricky.
When the promotional campaign first came out before the movie's release in NYC, I saw multiple graffiti symbols resembling this image. Initially, I thought they were some sort of gang markings.
I only realized later that it was a guerrilla ad campaign for the movie. :-)
i hear this movie is great...
i can enter
We watched it and loved it! Very gritty though, and heavy on the social commentary. Definitely not for kids. The special effects (the aliens) is so great you forget they're special effects and begin treating the aliens as just other actors.
Aw, this was a very nice post. In idea I wish to put in writing like this additionally – taking time and actual effort to make an excellent article… however what can I say… I procrastinate alot and not at all appear to get one thing done.
