Big Top

This is the inside of the dome of the Rotunda, that is now home to Lloyds bank. I thought I'd show it in black and white as I think it highlights some of the details and its not far off the real colour, a greenish-grey with a red circle round the highest point.

  1. Tit for tat; I'm first to comment on your blog today, too. I'm still in Seattle and have not been able to blog visit in a major way, but I'll be home soon! I like the design and 'color' of this dome.

  3. It's lovely, and using monochrome emphasizes the varied and intersting patterns.

  5. A beautiful dome. Amazing it belongs to a bank but I remember putting a cupola on Monte Carlo recently and that belonged to a bank too!

  7. How do the banks get all the beautiful buildings? Isn't Lloyds a bit strapped for cash?

  10. So this bank's still perking along in its fancy digs. Ours are dropping like flies. Great dome shot. They are hard. I ought to know, I've photographed about a million of them in France!HA

  12. Gorgeous geometry in this rotunda. I like it in black and white . . . makes a strong graphic statement. I've always wondered why banks and churches have some of the best looking buildings.
